The local authorities of North Kent: Medway, Dartford, Gravesham and Swale are making excellent progress in delivering real regeneration to the area and meeting some of the most challenging housing and employment targets in the whole of the country. 

2017 marks an exciting, challenging and important moment in the regeneration of the Thames Gateway in North Kent. 

  • The Government’s ‘Thames Estuary 2050 Growth Commission’ report by the end of the year, will be making recommendations for future projects, structures and funding for the area
  • Plans for the Lower Thames Crossing are starting to provide new economic opportunities
  • Ebbsfleet Garden City is becoming a very visible success story
  • The ambitious proposals for the London Resort theme park on the Swanscombe Peninsula continue to be developed

Otterpool Park - A garden town for the future

This new Garden Town will deliver up to 12,000 much needed new homes, employment, schools and other facilities in a rich landscape setting adjacent to the Channel Tunnel and within an hour travel time by train to London. 

Shepway District Council and Cozumel Estates are bringing forward exciting proposals for transformational growth at Otterpool Park next to junction 11 of the M20 between Ashford and Folkestone in Kent.

About the panel speakers

Susan has been the Corporate Director of Strategic Development at Shepway District Council since 2013.  She joined the local authority with extensive experienced in leading a wide range of economic development and growth activities in the public and private sectors.. 

Rebecca is a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor (MRICS) with a Masters in Real Estate Development from the University of Westminster. Rebecca is a member of Arcadis’ UK Housing Strategy Board.

Julia is a master planner and urban designer, who forms part of the team at the Council promoting the new garden town.
